A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Fun

Kids and teens from 2 to 18 years old can read all summer long and sign up to:

  • earn weekly incentives for reading books of their choice.
  • earn a free book at the end of the summer.
  • enjoy 8 weeks of fun with free weekly entertainment programs.
  • participate in crafts, contests and more.

You will receive a summer calendar of events when you sign up.

Sign-up for this free program begins Monday, May 20th,

and continues through Saturday, July 20th.


July Programs

Tuesday, July 9th – Serevende Marimbas
2:00 to 2:45 pm AND repeat program 3:00 to 3:45 pm – Noel Wien Library Auditorium
Come listen to the cool sounds of the marimba played by the Serevende Marimba Ensemble.

Thursday, July 11th – Exercise Your Imagination
2:00 to 2:45 pm AND repeat program 3:00 to 3:45 pm – Noel Wien Library Auditorium
Ready to go on an adventure? Using storytelling, yoga and art, our imaginations can take us
worlds away! We can visit the moon, say hello to an alien and more!

Tuesday, July 16th – Miss WEIO (World Eskimo Indian Olympics)
2:00 pm (one program only) – Noel Wien Library AuditoriumJoin candidates for the Miss World Eskimo-Indian Olympics as they demonstrate their skills, describe their attire, and share their culture.

Friday, July 19th – Summer Reading Program Ending Celebration 
Check your summer reading program booklet or printed calendar of events for information on the time and location of our ending celebration!


Summer Reading Program participants who have completed all their reading, and have had their free book coupon validated at the Berry Room desk, can choose their free book in the Berry Room beginning on Monday, July 22nd.

A Universe of Stories Storytime

A Universe of Stories Summer Storytime for 3 year olds through 2nd graders

will begin on Wednesday, May 29th at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM,

and continue weekly through Wednesday, July 31st.

Mother Moose Storytime

A short rhyme, story and activity time for babies and toddlers from birth to 23 months
and a parent or caregiver, in the Berry Room.
No registration is required.

Parents and Twos Storytime

Parents & Twos is a sweet little 3-week storytime for 2-year-olds

and a parent or caregiver in a small group setting.

Advanced registration is required.

Call 459-1052 during the library’s open hours, or stop by in person,

to register and obtain the program times.

It is held in the Berry Room Story Area.

JULY: Fridays (July 12, 19, and 26)

First day to sign up is Monday, June 24th.

Summer Reading Program Essay Contest

If you are between the ages of 6 and 18, neatly write or type an essay (up to 500 words) about a favorite book you’ve read recently and what it means to you.  Visit the Summer Reading Program section of this web page for more details.  The deadline for essays (book review) submission is 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
