Preschool Storytime

Tuesdays @ 10:30 AM and Wednesdays @ 1:30 PM
A fun storytime for 3-5 year olds, held in the Berry Room. No registration is required.

There will be no Preschool Storytime on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 25th and 26th, or on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 1st and 2nd.

Parents & Twos Storytime

Call the Berry Room at 459-1052, or stop by in person, to register for the three-week November series.
Spaces are limited in each session.
Advanced registration IS REQUIRED.

PJs, slippers, and your favorite stuffed animal are welcome.   No registration is required.

Movies are shown on the big screen in the Noel Wien Library auditorium.

Join us for our monthly hour of toy brick building fun.
We provide the toy bricks, you provide the imagination.
This month our theme is racing.
For ages 3 and up.
No registration is required.

Using library supplied littleBits,
(tiny electronic pieces that snap together with magnets,
allowing you to create your own circuits),
challenge yourself to create some sort of useful object.

For ages 8 and up.
No registration is required.

Winter Break Activities

Winter Break Children and Teen Reading Challenge

Saturday, December 22, 2018 through Monday, January 7, 2019, in the Berry Room

Read or listen to 1-3 books (depending on your grade) during the winter break and earn a small incentive.  Call (459-1052) or visit the Berry Room at the Noel Wien Library to learn how to participate.

Button Making

Wednesday through Saturday, December 19th to December 22nd in the Berry Room.
All day each day at the Berry Room Youth Services Desk.

Stop by the Berry Room Desk with a small photo (not bigger than 2.5 inches) and have a button-pin made to wear or give as a gift.

Drop-In Crafts

Held in the Berry Room Storytelling Area.  All materials supplied by the public library.  For children ages 3 and up.  No registration required.

Monday, December 31st, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM – 3D Paper Snowman
Come test your snowman building skills by creating a 3D paper snowman using paper strips and cupcake liners.

Monday, January 7th, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Snow Snake Craft
Have you seen snow snakes on a tree branch or a power line?
Once you know what to look for, you will see them everywhere.
Now you can make your own snow snake finger puppet at the library.

Life-size Candyland Game

Friday, December 28th, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Noel Wien Library Auditorium
Yummy family fun!  Travel through the Peppermint Forest and the Gumdrop Mountains on your way to find the Candy Castle.  You will create a goodie bag before you begin to collect your treats as you travel along the colorful path in this life-size Candyland game.  Drop in anytime between 1:00 and 5:00 to play.

Drop-In Vacation Fun Play Day

Pack your bags and get ready for some travel fun with self-paced activities, crafts and more — all things vacation related.  Oh, so relaxing. For ages 3 and up.

“I Learned It At The Library” Showcase for Children/Teens

Friday, January 4th, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM – Noel Wien Library Auditorium

Have you learned something from a book or online through the library during the last year? 

There are two segments (you chose which you want to do):

  • bring something you have made, to be on display during the program,
  • sign up for a 5 minute segment to demonstrate what you’ve learned.

The first 90 minutes, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, will be divided into 5 minute segments where individual kids (age 5 and up) or teens can demonstrate something they learned through the library.  The last 30 minutes will be an opportunity to look at displays.

Registration is required in order to participate in the demonstration portion.  Registration begins Saturday, December 1st, and ends Saturday, December 29th, at 5pm.  Call 459-1052 (Berry Room Youth Services) or stop by the Berry Room to register.

All participants will receive a special participation prize.

Teen Winter Break Program – Teen Chocolate-Palooza

Thursday, January 3rd @ 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Calling all chocolate lovers!
Here’s your chance to see if you’re a real chocoholic!
There’ll be tastings, challenges, games,
and of course – chocolate in many forms!

No registration is required.
Program is for teens in 7th to 12th grade only (no siblings or parents, please).

The Noel Wien Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday, December 24th and 25th, for the Christmas holidays, and Tuesday, January 1st, for the New Year holiday.  The Library will close at 6:00 pm on Monday, December 31st.

Remember that downloadable materials are available even on days the library is closed.
